It is a cave very admired by speleologists for the variety of attractions it has and because in its journey the visitor walks, crawls, crawls, crawls, dives, swims and resorts to all sorts of adventures during an average of six hours that lasts the tour, which repeats when returning by the same route.

Carmen Cave
Natural Park “El Santuario”
This cave has an approximate length of 400 m. At the bottom there are natural masks on the front wall above a cavity. Entering the cave there is a stream formed by water from a spring near the cave, known as “El Pozo del Diablo” (The Devil’s Well).
In it, logging is prohibited and the preservation of its flora, fauna and other natural resources is required.
The park is divided in three zones separated by circular squares without vegetation also known as “Parches”. These are inexplicably natural, also worthy of admiration are the stone labyrinths.
The Sanctuary has exotic vegetation typical of the jungle. Some representative animals of our fauna like: picures, faras, tinajos, armadillos, iguanas, reptiles among them a great variety of snakes.
The success of the journey consists of crossing the Sanctuary without getting lost or returning to the starting point. Unfortunately the archeological richness left in the place as inheritance of our ancestors, especially pre-Columbian ceramic works, was plundered as well as most of its natural richness. We should all love and respect this lung of our heritage with pride as Curiteños.
